Maoists agreed to secretariat for special committee

Kathmandu, 27 Jan.: Maoists Tuesday agreed on a secretariat in the special committee for supervision, integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants headed by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
But there was no agreement on Maoist demand they should head it.
Nepali Congress committee member Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said no party member should lead it.
The secretariat will command 19,000 plus combatants in 28 cantonments and camps still under Maoist command.
Members are yet to be appointed,
The secretariat will supervise, control and direct combatants’, Dr Mahat said.
Government has rejected mass integration of combatants in the state army even as Defence Minister Bidya Bhandari said she won’t accept a single Maoist in Nepal Army (NA).
A comprehensive peace agreement between Maoists and seven political parties doesn’t specify how many Maoists will be integrated.
But Nepali Congress leaders have said here is an unwritten
agreement between Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad
Koirala and Chairman Prachanda to integrate 5,000 combatants in NA.
PM Nepal has suggested Maoists should be integrated in
the next 112 days before deadline to promulgate a constitution 28 May.
Congress and UML said integration and rehabilitation is a precondition
for promulgating the constitution.

Load-shedding extended by two more hours

There’ll be 11 hours of daily power outage at winter ends.

VDC secretary abducted and killed

Kathmandu, 27 Jan.: Indra Bahadur Shrestha, Sitapur VDC secretary in Banke, was abducted and killed Tuesday.
He was abducted as he was returning home from work.
Shrestha was gagged and shot dead.

Indians enter Morang and burn effigy of Prachanda

Kathmandu, 27 Jan.: Indians, including security personnel, entered
Dainia and Rangeli in Morang Tuesday shouting slogans against Prachanda and burnt his effigy.
Indians burnt the effigy of the leader of the main opposition UCPN (Maoist) as the party and launched a nation-wide Indian campaign
Charging New Delhi for intervention in Nepal’s internal affairs.
Indian border security personnel didn’t intervene when Indians crossed the
border.
