Prachanda directs capture of state, army through rebellion; UNMIN helping party

Kathmandu, 8 March: Maoist Chairman Prachanda has directed combatants to capture power and security agencies through rebellion after 28 May, Rajdhani reports
Prachanda gave the direction at Shaktikhor 1 March; he was addressing combatants under party control; battalion commanders and division commanders were present.
According to a secret report available to Rajdhani, while imparting training to combatants Prachanda claimed UNMIN Chief Karin Landgren was helping the party.
‘We’ll now not enter the jungle. If reactionaries don’t allow us to work there’s be popular revolt for which the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is the biggest force, the secret report said.
He told combatants as they laughed,” Nepali Congress and UML are obstacles in drafting a constitution. The party is thinking is of capturing power through revolt.”
Prachanda also said there’s little likelihood of a constitution being promulgated and asked the YCL central committee meeting Sunday to prepare for a revolt.
“A youth campaign will be launched to create pressurize to promulgation a constitution as far as possible. If there’s a conspiracy against it, there’s no alternative to revolt against regressive elements,” Prachanda said.
“UNMIN Chief Karin Landgren is sincerely helping the party internally. This has sent a good message for us abroad.” Prachanda said.

Govt. writing to UMNIN for third time seeking details of combatants


Kathmandu, 8 March: Government is seeking for the third time through a letter details of Maoist combatants writing a saying UNMIN’s role was not impartial while expressing deep concern, Kantipur reports.
Two requests through letters went unheeded by UNMIN.
At the request of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chief Secretary Madhav Ghimere Sunday wrote to the peace ministry asking for details from UNMIN.
Peace ministry will write to UMNMIN by Wednesday.
The letter will be sent questioning UNMIN’s impartiality.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar told reporters in Itahari Sunday UMNMIN’s mandate won’t be extended after 15 May.
“UNMIN has always worked in a biased manner. The government doubt’s UNMIN’s activities and its role could not be visible till now.”

One suspect arrested

Kathmandu, 8 March: One suspect involved in the shooting of Dr Nagendra Pampati was arrested with one pistol and a revolver from the capital Sunday.
Police haven’t revealed his identity.
The managing director of Bharatpur Medical College escaped unhurt.
