Two shot dead in Siraha

Kathmandu, 9 March: Sidip Shah and Jitendra Bhandari died while being rushed to hospital overnight for treatment after they were shot and seriously injured at a wedding party.
Violence continues unabated in the south.

Schedule being amended for the 10th time

Kathmandu, 9 March: The constituent assembly (CA) is meeting Tuesday to amend a schedule to promulgate a constitution for the 10th time.
The main constitution drafting committee headed by Nilambar Acharya couldn’t complete a draft by the 5 March deadline.
Acharya has convened a special meeting of 25 political parties Tuesday to discuss delays and alternatives in drafting a basis law.
A business advisory committee of the CA also meets to suggest the drafting committee be given 30 days to draft a constitution.
Fifty days will be set aside to complete procedures like collecting public opinion before a the CA finally promulgates a constitution 28 Mmay 28.

Maoist attempt to incite army

Kathmandu, 9 March: Maoist Chairman Prachanda Monday asked Nepal Army (NA) to join hands with the main opposition to save the nation.
He also predicted the army won’t save the Nepali Congress or the UML which he called rightists.
Prachanda was trying to instigate the army against the government.
He said this while addressing a public meeting in the capital as he attempted to appease the army.
“Nepal Army which didn’t save the king will definitely not save UML and Nepali Congress; the army won’t go along with rightists.
‘We don’t have grudges against Nepal Army and we won’t destroy its structure,” he said as he praised the state army.
“At a time when national sovereignty is endangered we must work together,” the Maoist Chairman said seeking NA’s cooperation.

Former king says he’ll support demand for Hindu state; concerned with deteriorating law and order

Kathmandu, 9 March: Former King Gyanendra said Monday he’ll support a Hindu state in people so wish.
“If the people so desire well; we’ll support it,” he said.
He spent 30 minutes with Queen Komal at Bankali where he attended a prayers for a Hindu state organized by Kalibab.
He donated Rs 100,000.
The former couple was cheered by supporters,
The former king told reporters he was concerned with the deteriorating law and order situation.
“Anybody can contribute and wish for the country’s sustainable peace,” the former king added.

School chairman murdered

Kathmandu, 9 March: The body of Mohammad Slammiya was found by a river at Trilok VDC-3 Monday morning I Saptari.
He was chairman of a village school.
He was killed by an unidentified group.
Meanwhile, an armed group blasted the house of a VDC secretary in Nawalparasi Monday.

Nepal beats Hong Kong

Kathmandu, 9 March: Nepal plays Kuwait Tuesday in the ACC U-16 Elite Cup..
Nepal beat Hong Kong by six wickets in its first outing Monday.
Hong Kong was bowled out for 88 runs only in 35.4 overs.
Nepal scored the required runs in 18.3 overs losing four wickets.
