British environment campaigner swims in Pumori lake

Kathmandu, 24 May British environment campaigner Lewis Pugh,40, swam one km at Pumori lake next of Mount Everest, the 8848 meters high world’s tallest peak, BBC reports.
The temperature was two degrees Celsius.
Pugh completed the rate feat to highlight the effect of climate change in the Himalaya in 22 minutes 51 seconds.
The campaigner of Antarctica and North Pole fame said the latest swim was most difficult.

Networking business banned

Kathmandu, 24 May: Through a ministerial decision, government Sunday banned network marketing business following discovery of fraud by Unity Life Insurance, Nagarik reports.
Nearly one dozen networking businesses will be affected.
Department stores, dairies, hospitals and companies financed by Unity Life Insurance will be closed.
The finance ministry took the action on the recommendation of a high-level government committee.

Nine Nepalis buried alive in Meghalaya

Kathmandu, 24 May: Nine Nepali workers were buried alive in a nine near Langapi village in Meghalaya Saturday, The Kathmandu Post reports from Darjeeling.
The victims were hiding in Latumbai coalmine fearing attacks from indigenous Khasi community.
Meghalaya police said all the dead are migrant Nepali workers but their identity is yet to be ascertained.
