Maoists continue seize for third day; other details

Kathmandu, 5 May: Maoists continued their seize of the streets of the capital and other urban centers nation-wide for the fourth consecutive day Wednesday obstructing the movement of vehicles and people inconveniencing them.
Schools, industries, businesses and banks remain closed as the main opposition has brought the country to a standstill.
The main opposition has bussed in thousands of people from districts in the Valley for their pressure campaign to oust the government led by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and form a national government under its leadership.
Parties haven’t prioritized the drafting of a constitution that has to be promulgated by 28 May to institutionalize a republic that has already been declared by an unelected and self-appointed parliament.
The deadline will be missed and a political crisis will ensue.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda held discussions held discussions with Congress leaders Shekhar Koirala and Krishna Prasad Shitaula Wednesday morning to prepare an environment for a summit of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and UML.
The summit wasn’t held Tuesday as differences between the three parties on six issues persisted.

Police post attack looted, weapons looted

Kathmandu, 5 May: An unidentified group overnight attacked and snatched weapons, including a Chinese pistol rifle and 10 and rifles after attacking a police outpost at Nunthal in Khotang.
A group of about a dozen persons decamped with 514 rounds of ammunition.
