Peace rallies in district; other details
Kathmandu, 7May: Peace rallies were also brought out in districts outside the capital Friday urging the withdrawal of a Maoist crippling six-day strike and consensus.
Police fired in the air and lobbed teargas shells to separate pace marchers and Maoists at Ratna Park in the capital; clashes were reported from various parts of the city.
An emergency meeting of Nepali Congress committee Friday decided not to withdraw its pre-conditions for a formation of a national government such as the dissolution of YCL and return of seized assets.
The party said a national government can’t be formed until the integration and resettlement of former Maoist combatants.
Meanwhile, Maoist Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai said in the capital Friday police and vigilantes of Nepali Congress and UNL and not Hindu activists torched and attacked its camp in Birgunj Thirsday.
He said this while visiting injured activists who were brought to the capital for treatment.

Sujata Koirala to present proposal to close down OHCHR regional offices
Kathmandu, 7 May: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala said Friday she’ll Friday take a proposal to the cabinet to close down five regional offices of OHCHR
The party central committee ordered her to take the proposal to the cabinet.
The ruling party decided the National Human Rights Commission should be enabled.

Record bid of Everest
Kathmandu, 7 May: Chewang Nima Sherpa is attempting to climb the 8848meters high Mount Everest for the second time in a season 16 May to match the feat of Appa Sherpa after climbing the 8848 meters high world’s tallest peak Wednesday, the ministry of tourism said.
Chawang stepped on the top of Everest for the 18th time this spring.
Appa is also attempting Everest this spring for a record 20th ascent.
