Kathmandu, 28 May: With only 60 minutes remaining to extend the two-year elected tenure of the CA to promulgate a constitution to institutionalize an already declared republic, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal told President Dr Ram Baran Yadav he won’t resign as demanded by main opposition Maoists.
“The prime minister won’t resign,:” Chief Political Advisor Raghuji Pant told reporters after the crucial meeting Friday evening.
Pant revealed they discussed possible options without divulging details.
Government has already decided to deploy security forces to handle consequences with the failure to adopt a republican constitution.
The chief advisor said the premier didn’t resign also because he has his party UML’s support.
India earlier said the president and the prime minister were legitimate constitutional authorities with growing foreign interference in internal Nepali politics.
