Last minute efforts to avoid a crisis

Kathmandu, 28 May: Maoists, NC and UML began last-minute exercises Friday morning to extend the CA mandate; their rigid stances continued until Thursday night.
Maoist standing committee, which demanded the resignation of the prime minister as a pre-condition for support to the bill for the 8th amendment to the interim constitution, again began a crucial meeting Friday.
Ruling UML and NC and also holding inter and intra-party talks in a desperate bid to avoid a constitutional and political crisis.
