Salyan fire claims three lives
Kathmandu, 14 May: A devastating fire overnight killed three persons, including two women, at Damachaur in Salyan overnight.
Five students fighting the fire are missing; two policemen were injured.
The fire destroyed three houses land the settlement is still threatened.

Maoists boycott special committee meeting
Kathmandu, 14 May: Maoists Friday boycotted a special committee meeting of integration, resettlement and supervision of Maoists chaired by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal charging a political deadlock continued.
Maoist member of the committee Barsha Man Pun said the committee meeting was meaningless.
The committee last met 16 April.
Ruling parties have intensified their demand for the integration and settlement of former Maoist fighters as a pre-condition for the formation of a national government demanded by Maoists.
The special committee extended the tenure of a technical committee for another four months after it ended Thursday.
“Our party policy now is to boycott initiatives of the government, so we will not attend the meeting scheduled for tomorrow,” another Maoist leader Janardhan Sharma Prabhakar said Thursday.
Chairman Prachanda said this week the party was ready to put 19,000 plus combatants in two camps for resettlement or integration within four months.

Big drug haul in the capital
Kathmandu, 14 May: Two drugs peddlers were arrested in the capital with 111 kg hashish concealed in a truck at Satungal Thursday.
Drug enforcement officials the consignment was bound for China.
Altogether 4,227 kg hash has been recovered in four months under a Operation White Gold Drive; twenty-seven peddlers and traffickers have been arrested.
