Chairman Nemwang asks PM Nepal to take lead
Kathmandu, 6 June: Chairman Subash Nemwang Sunday asked Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to take the lead as the government chief to implement the three-point agreement which hasn’t been implemented even in 10 days.
He asked the premier ‘to implement and play a role’.
The chairman said there’s no alternative but to implement the agreement.
Nemwang ‘drew the attention’ of Nepal to the adverse impact on the budget session from Tuesday without implementing the agreement.
The chairman, pushing the agreement, said non-implementation has disheartened people and spread uncertainty so soon after differences son the agreement broke out.
NC and UML narrowed down demands from six to three in the agreement to come to an agreement with the main opposition.
Only one of the three points has been implemented—the extension of the constituent assembly (CA) tenure by one year until 28 May 2011.
Ruling parties demanded all points of the agreement be implemented simultaneously while Maoists say there’s no link between the premier’s readiness to resign by last Wednesday and implementation of two other points in the agreement.
