Responsibility handed over to Maoist politburo

Kathmandu, 11 June: A Maoist standing committee meeting Friday handed over responsibility to take an official party position on modalities for combatants and the peace process to the politburo which meets 14 June.
Spokesman Dinanath Sharma announced the decision after the committee meet.
The party asked Nepali Congress not to interfere e in its party matters after the Maoist officials decided Thursday Chairman would lead a national government formed under it.
The ruling party said Thursday Prachanda’s leadership of government wouldn’t be acceptable to it.

Fire in Gulmi threatens villages

Kathmandu, 11 June: A raging overnight fire at a community forest at Hastichur in Gulmi has threatened neighbouring villages on a steep cliff.
Police and firefighters haven’t reached the fire site because of the difficult hill terrain, radio reports
Locals couldn’t contain the fire and have appealed for help.

Sushil Koirala objects

Kathmandu, 11 June; Acting President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala Friday opposed plans by a section of the party to launch Tarun Dasta on likes of Maoist YCL and UML Youth Force.
Nearly 900 armed Dasta cades are being paraded at Baharabishe bazzar in Sindupalchowk in the presence of Sher Bahadur Deuba and Khum Bahadur Khadka Saturday.
Koirala warned action is the Dassta is launched.


Kuwait charged for trafficking Nepali workers to Saudi Arabia

Kathmandu, 11 June: A US human rights group has accused Kuwait for trafficking Nepali workers to Saudi Arabia for money in a report released this week.
“Kuwait employers hire Nepali domestic workers, then illegally transport
them to Suadi Arabia against their will. Kuwati employers leave the workers with Saudi families who are often related to Kuwatis and who usually pay a fee to them. The workers are then forced to work for Saudi families.
“Saudi prosecutors have new legal tools to bring human traffickers to justice and should use these,:” said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East Director of Human Rights Watch (HRW) of USA.
“The reports about abuse and trafficking of these Nepali workers urgently put Kuwait on notice that it needs to pass is own anti-trafficking law.
