CA to finalize calendar to promulgate constitution

Kathmandu, 15 July: The constituent assembly (CA) that meets Sunday.
for the first time in three and a half months will draw up a calendar to promulgate a constitution to institutionalize a republic by the 28 May 2011 deadline.
Chairman Subash Nemwang summoned the assembly for its 102st. session
After agreement of three parties.
Three big parties have agreed to complete the draft before the deadline by mid-April 2011.
The assembly couldn’t the first two-year deadline that ended 28 May 2010.
Meanwhile, 17 small parties and some independents Thursday regretted a decision of three big parties to from a state restructuring commission unilaterally.
After Nepali Congress central committee Thursday claimed the leadership of the new government, Spokesman Arjun Narsingh KC said it’s the time for the party to lead the government.
“Two other parties [NC and UML] have already led the government,” he told reporters after the central committee meeting.
Acting President Sushil Koirala will be assisted by Ram Chandra Paudel and Sher Bahadur Deuba to seek support of other parties for the NC drive to form a government under its leadership.

Hetauda appellate court judge suspended

Kathmandu, 15 July: Hetauda appellate court judge was suspended Thursday with immediate effect by the judicial council in what has been described as a major decision.
A one-man investigation headed by retired supreme court judge Balaram KC will investigate charge of ‘misconduct’; a report has to be submitted in one month.
The council said a decision of the court two years to release three persons accused for abduction against a small surety was ;faulty’ and ‘dubious’.
The three abductors were again involved in the recent abduction of Dr Bhaktaman Shrestha, Chief of the BP Koirala Cancer Memorial Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Twp Maoist fighters found dead

Kathmandu, 15 July; Bodies of two Maoist fighters were found Thursday at the Charpal community forest near Butwal.
The fighters were from a camp under UNMIN watch near the town.
They bodies of Bishnu Neupane and Chand Bohara were identified.
The two had gone missing since Wednesday.

Samyukta Jatiya Morcha surfaces in Lalitpur

Kathmandu, 15 July: To hide their identity, veiled members of Samyukta Jatiya Morcha appeared before TV journalists at a news conference in Lalitpur, television footage showed.
The Morcha has forced the resignations of at least 1,5000 VDC secretaries nationwide.
It announced a working relationship with Kirat Janabadi Workers’ Party.

Rescue declaration for endangered tiger

Kathmandu, 15 July: Representatives of 13 ‘tiger countries’ on Wednesday drew up a rescue declaration in Bali in a bid to save the big cats from extinction, AFP reports from Nusa Dua in Indonesia.
The declaration, which is to be signed in September at a ‘tiger summit’ in St Petersberg in Russia, aims to double the number of wild tigers across their range by 2022.
(Note: Nepal has been invited to the summit in Russia.)

Nepse gains 10.4 points

Kathmandu, 15 July: Nepse gained a whopping 10.4 points at the end of trading Thursday—the last day of weekly five-day trading.
The market closed at 447.73 points.
