Prachanda seeks support of commanders

Kathmandu, 3 July: As an intra-party dispute aggravates, Maoist leaders are preparing their strategy and collecting internal support over dinner, Kantipur reports.
The party is polarized as a dispute has intensified between Chairman Prachanda and Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai.
Prachanda hosted a dinner at his residence in Naya Bazzar Tuesday for his military commanders.
According to a source, Military In-charge Barshsman Pun, Commanders Nanda Kishore Pun, Deputy Commanders Janardhan Sharma and Chandra Prakash Khanal were present.
“Our suggestion was the present controversy should be resolved with all leaders coming together,” a participant said.” As far as the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is concerned, we made it clear its complete support from the inception has been for the chairman.”
This situation arose after a military commander who sided with Vice-chairman Bhattarai switched support for the chairman.
