NC central committee begins meet; Sushi Koirala says Congress led government will be formed

Kathmandu, 13 July: NC central committee began a central committee a crucial meet Tuesday as it laid a claim to lead a majority government one day after President Dr Ram Baran Yadav called for such a government.
Acting President Sushil Koirala said Tuesday in Nepalgunj his party will now takeover leadership of the government from caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Amid a fluid political situation, Speaker Subash Nemwang has convened a meeting of parliament’s business advisory committee to fix procedures and date for the election of the premier.
Meanwhile, 22 parties expressed regret Tuesday three main parties couldn’t form a national consensus government.
Putting pressure on the three parties, the group had been pushing for a unity government.

Facility for Nepalis traveling through Hong Kong

Kathmandu, 13 July: Nepalis transiting Hong Kong by Nepal Airlines Corporation (RNA) to countries listed below have been waived transit visas from Monday 12 July, an announcement said.
Nepalis traveling to Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latviya, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland won’t require transit visas.
The facility was arranged following an agreement RNA and Hong Kong Immigration.

Nepal Pavilion at Shanghai Expo attracts 2.63 million

Kathmandu, 13 July: Nepal Mandap at Shanghai Expo-2010 has attracted 2.63 visitors since opening 1 May, Nepali organizers said.
Nearly 13 million visitors at expected during the six-month exhibition
Nepal National Day is being observed 3 September.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has been invited.

Tiger conservation of be discussed by South Asian ministers

Kathmandu, 13 July: The government will be hosting the SAARC ministerial-meeting in Kathmandu prior to the heads of state meeting scheduled for September in Russia, The Himalayan Times reports.
The global tiger meeting in Kathmndu last year had proposed a meeting of heads of state or government from the thirteen tiger range countries….
“The ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation will discuss issues related to tiger conservation in the SAARC region before the heads of state meeting for which the World Bank is providing financial support,” said Deepak Bohara, Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation.
