SLC results being announced
Kathmandu, 2 July: This year’s SLC results are being announced later Friday, according to an official of the controller of examinations.
Altogether 456,000 plus students appeared for the examinations this year.

Krishna Chandra Singh Pradhan dead
Kathmandu, 2 July: Critic and literature Krishna Chandra Singh Pradhan, 85, died overnight.
He was rushed to hospital from his home in Tahachal after complaining of chest pain.
He died en route to hospital.

PM Nepal puts all four security services on high alert
Kathmandu, 2 July: Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Thursday put all four security agencies, including Nepal Army, on high alert following his resignation Wednesday.
He summoned the chiefs of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department to review the security situation following his resignation.
Defence Minister Bidya Bhandari and Home Minister Bhim Rawal were present at the review meeting which concluded the political void must be filled with the deployment.
Abducted journalist released
Kathmandu, 2 July Abducted journalist Krishna Bohara was released blindfolded at a forest in Kapilvasthu overnight nearly 24 hours after his kidnap from Parbat.
He was tortured following his abduction from Parbat Wednesday.
He’s being escorted home by a relief team Friday.
Bohara complained of threats following his reportage of a land deal involving Maoists in the district.

Tourist arrivals up
Kathmandu, 2 July: Altogether 26,997 tourisms arrived in June—up 16.3 percent compared to the same month the previous year, Immigration Office at the Tribhuvan International Airport said.
Tital arrivals also increased in the first six months of 2010.
Altogether 196, 319 visitors arrived in the first six months of 2010—a jump of 18.1 percent compared to 2009.
Arrivals from South Asia, except Sri Lanka, surged 22.2 percent; China arrivals increased 13,5 percent.
Arrivals from Thailand, plagued by political turmoil, declined 26.5 percent.
Overall arrivals from Europe increased 6.2 percent as arrivals from UJ, Netherlands and Germany dipped.
US arrivals surged 16.7 percent.

Binaya Raj Pandey in ACC
Kathmandu, 2 July: President of Cricket Association (CAN) Binaya Raj Pandey was elected Thursday Vice-president of Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
He was elected at the ACC annual general assembly meet in Singapore.
