Verdict on French serial killer Charles Shobraj case postponed until 30 July

Kathmandu, 14 July: The supreme court Wednesday postponed final verdict on French serial killer Charles Shobraj, 65, until 30 July.
The apex was scheduled to give a verdict Tuesday.
The court said further was needed to study arguments in the case.
Shobraj has been charged for involvement in the 1975 murder of US hiker Connie Joe Bronzich at the peak of the hippie movement when Nepal’s cheap and free drugs attracted thousands of backpackers.
Another case of murder of Canadian national at the same time is pending against him at Bhaktapur district court.
Shobraj has served long jail sentences for murder in India and Bangkok.
He was arrested in September 2003 from the capital after the entering the country incognito even when cases were pending against him in court.
The Frenchman has challenged a 2004 Kathmandu district court convicting him of murder—a decision upheld by Patan appellate court.
Shobraj has written bestselling books on his escapades in South and Southeast Asia.
