Former Maoist commander held with explosives

Kathmandu, 19 Aug.: A former Maoist commander was held with 29 detonators and 35 gel ignites in a house raid by police in Thimi Tuesday
Rajesh Thami and Sanukalu Baruwal were arrested to the media Wednesday.
Thami told reporters he was a vice-commander and left the UCPN(Maoist) last year.
A man was arrested Wednesday with 72 electronic detonators and 74gel ignites at Jamuni-5 in Bardiya.

Army chief visiting South Korea

Kathmandu, 19 Aug.: Army Chief Gen. Chatraman Singh Gurung is visiting South Korea from 18 to 22 Oct., Nagarik reports.
He will be attending a programme in Seoul organized by the US army.
Government has already sanctioned his visit to the United Kingdom.
The army chief’s South Korea visit will be his fourth foreign trip.

Karzai decree to wipe out Afghan jobs for Nepalis

Kathmandu, 19 Aug.: Thousands of Nepalis working in Afghanistan ass security guards will have to leave the war-ravaged country by the end of the this year under a decree issued by Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday, Republica reports.
Though there is no exact official figure on the number of Nepalis to be affected by the decree, estimates put it at between 15,000 to 20,000.
The presidential decree requires private security companies to disband within four months, according to the Associated Press.
It further says that security contractors will have to either join the Afghan police force or cease operations by the mid-December. The Afghan president wants to replace foreign security guards with Afghan forces.
