14 KILLED IN JEEP PLUNGE

Kathmandu, 5 Oct.: Fourteen pilgrims were killed and two were injured Tuesday when a jeep plunged into Kali Gandaki river on the Beni-Jomsom highway en route to Muktinath temple.
Bodies of three passengers are yet to be identified.

MEET OF 27 POLITICAL PARTIES ALSO INCONCLUSIVE

Kathmandu, 5 Oct.: Twenty-seven political parties in the constituent assembly (CA) couldn’t agree Tuesday on a structure of a government in a republic.
The parties met Tuesday after nearly seven months to submit recommendations for a proposed constitution to institutionalized a declared republic.
NC leader Ram Chandra Paudel revealed three proposalswere presented for a state structure/
Maoists pushed a directly elected executive president, UML urged a directly elected prime minister while NC pushed a premier elected by parliament.
‘UML wants a directly elected prime minister,” party chairman Jhalanath Khanal said after the meeting.

VOTING STARTS IN ELECTIONS FOR LEADERSHIP OF UML STUDENT WING

Kathmandu, 5 Oct. delayed voting started at four in the afternoon Tuesday ----nearly eight hours behind schedule—for elections fo office bearers of the student wing of the UML in Janakpur.
Voting was scheduled to start at seven in the morning.
There are altogether 1, 826 voters.
Voting expected to conclude mid-night.
Soviet Dhakal supported by establishment and Madhav Dhungel backed by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Sharma Oli are contesting the chairmanship for a two-year term to succeed Ram Kumari Jhakri.

NEPAL VICTORIOUS IN WOMEN’S CRICKET

Kathmandu, 5 Oct.: Nepal Tuesday beat Kuwait by seven wickets in the ACC I-19 Women’s Cricket Championship in Singapore improving charges for a semi-final berth.
Nepal restricted Kuwait to 49 runs in 25 overs for the loss of nine wickets.
Nepal scored the required runs in 8.3 overs for the loss of only three wickets,
Nepal plays host Singapore Thursday.
