BIG THREE LEADERS HUDDLED IN DISCUSSIONS FOR SECOND DAY
Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: Fifteen leaders of the Big Three- UCPN(Maoist), NC and UML- continued their discussions Saturday for the second day at the secluded Hattiban Resort south of the capital at Chovar.
Talks continued late into the night Friday amid tight security; the resort was out of bounds for journalists.
Leaders of the three parties went into seclusion Friday to find an outlet to the prolonged four-month political deadlock amid efforts to prevent a financial with the presentation of a delayed complete budget three months after the beginning of fiscal year 2010/11.
Parties presented their views without agreement Friday.
The secret talks were organized as there was no outlet in two rounds sponsored by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal of talks spread over two days during the week.

JANAMORCHA NEPAL DEMAND TO WITHDRAW EC DECISION
Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: Janamorcha Nepal Friday said the ‘anti-national’ decision of the election commission to prepare a digitalized voter’s list on the recommendation of government official and local bodies will be ’suicidal’.
The party led by Chitra Bahadur KC said outlawed groups control local bodies, especially in the terai, and the recommendations of such bodies for citizenship certificates will be influenced outlawed group threats.
The decision of the commission to change its original decision to include the names of only persons with citizenship certificates in the updated voters’ list will open the flood gates for citizenship to foreigners.
The party noted foreigners were already registered as voters in the 2008 constituent assembly elections.
The party demanded formation of a commission to investigate issuance of certificates to foreigners along with the set-up of a complaints body to hear
protests of irregularities.
The election commission itself admitted five million foreigners were registered in the 2008 vote swept by Maoists.
Parties in the terai and nine districts in Limbuwan have obstructed work to update voters’ list to rectify the shortcomings in the 2008 voters’ list..

WILD ELEPHANT DEAD IN KOSI TAPPU
Kathmandu, 6 Nov. The carcass of a wild elephant was found in a community forest in Udaipur district inside the Kosi Tappu Wildlife Reserve Thursday.
The cause of the death wasn’t known.

LAKPA GYALZEN SHERPA AWARDED
Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: Lakpa Gyalzen Sherpa has been awarded the Kumar Khadga Bikram Bravery Award 2002 by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
The mountain rescue specialist and managing director of Sherpa & Swiss adventure Pvt. Ltd. Was awarded for his outstanding skill and humanitarian support for managing mountain rescue operations in the Himalaya.
