MORE DETAILS ON MAOIST, NAXAL CO-OPERATION

Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: India says Nepali and Indian Maoists have an understanding for military and ideological exchanges, Kantipur reports.
The Indian embassy in Kathmandu, in a secret letter to Nepal government 23 October, said there was an understanding between Maoists and Indian Communist Party (Maoist).
The secret letter was sent to Deputy Prime Minister Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala, Home Minister Bhim Rawal, Foreign Secrtary Madan Kumar Bhattarai and Home Secretary Gobinda Kusum.
The understanding was reached in Sarlahu in Nepal between standing committee member Haribol Gajurel, Maoist army commander Barsha Man Pun and other Maoist leaders and a three-member team of Communist Party of India (Maoist) under leadership of Pankaj, who came from Sitamani, Bihar.
“There’s an agreement between UCPN (Maoist) and Indian Communist Party(Maoist) to train up to 300 workers in Nepal. The agreement was reached politburo member Haribol Gajurel, politburo member and Maoist army commander Barsha Man Pun and other Maoist leaders and a team of three leaders led by Pankaj coming from Sitamadi, Bihar,” the letter states.
“There’s an understanding for training Indian Maoist activists in Mohottari and Sitamadi districts Indian Maoist activists by deputing Nepali Maoist PLA.”
The letter claims 200 Indian Maoists were trained in June.
The Maoists who came from Bihar, Chhatishgadh, Jharkhand and Orissa were trained 200 km away from Butwal.
Maoist Binod Gurung, Rajak Ansari of Nepangunj, involved in fake Indian currency notes dealing, and others imparted the training.
The letter says Latif Khan, member of Lakshar-A-Taiba, imparted explosives training.
The letter says a training camp was run by YCL for the Naxalies 10 km from Hetauda in a jungle.
Fifty Indian Maoists were trained at the Fourth Division in Saunamaina in August.

CONSUMER PRICE INDEX FALLS TO 8.5 PERCENT

Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: Consumer price index fell 8.6 percent in Bhadra [mid-September], the second month of the current fiscal year compared to 9.1 percent the same period the previous year, Nepal Rashtra Bank (RNB) said.
Food and beverages price index increased 12.2 percent while the index of service groups rose 5.6 percent.
Sugar and sweet price index jumped a whopping 39.5 percent while vegetable price index increased only 1.4 percent.
Price index in the Valley, hills and terai increased 10.6 percent,
9.7 percent and 6.6 percent respectively.
