THREE PARTIES AGREE TO NINTH AMENDMENT IN CONSTITUTION FOR BUDGET PRESENTATION

Kathmandu, 16 Nov.: Big Three parties Tuesday agreed to the 9th amendment in the interim constitution to bring a delayed annual budget 2010/11 Friday in parliament.
Maoists, NC and UML agreed Tuesday at a meeting with Speaker Subash Nemwang to amend article 96 of the interim by adding sub-clause 5 in the article for the caretaker government of Prime Minster Madhav Kumar Nepal to announce a budget under ‘special circumstance’.
The addition of a sub-clause says a government can bring a budget if a successor government hasn’t been formed in two months,
A task force of former finance ministers Dr. Baburam Bhattaraau (Maoist), Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat (NC) and Bharat Mohan Adhikari of UMl agreed to amend the constitution for the interest of the three parties.
The body was formed by three parties Monday.
Six months after the elected two-year term of the constitution assembly (CA) was extended 28 May 2010, parties haven’t even agreed on one article in a proposed constitution to institutionalize a republic.
The parties have been concentrating their entire effort on retaining power to bringing down the government.

NO AGREEMNT IN TASK FORCE ON LAND CEILING

Kathmandu, 16Nov. : There was no agreement in a Prachanda-led task force on land ceiling Tuesday.
Maoists proposed seizure of land beyond ceiling without compensation—a proposal opposed by NC and UML.
The seven-member Prachaanda task force is discussing 230 contententious issues for incorporation in a proposed constitution.
The task force meets again Wednesday.

NC LEADER KILLED IN BARDIYA

Kathmandu, 16 Nov.: NC district leader Dal Bahadur Gurung was hacked to death in Bardiya with a khukri overnight while driving back home on his motorcycle.
Two suspects have been arrested after Gurung was killed near Tara Tal.
Irate mob attacked a police post were duo were detained.
Police disbursed the crowd firing in the air and lobbing teargas shells.

FOREIGN PARAGLIDER KILLED IN POKHARA

Kathmandu, 16 Nov.: A foreign para-glider was killed in Pokhara
while landing Tuesday by the lake , first reports from the resort
town said.
He hasn’t been identified as yet.
Hid body was hanging from a tree.
