THREE PARTY SUMMMIT

Kathmandu, 2 Nov.: A summit of the Big Three began at the prime minister’s office in Singha Durbar Tuesday one day after Maoist Chairman Prachanda again boycotted a meeting of the constitutional council to appoint chiefs and members of constitutional bodies vacant for more than three years.
Prachanda Monday personally asked Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal not to embarrass him by calling the council meeting through public notification, a published report said Tuesday.
Prachanda has refused to accept invitation letters from the prime minister’s to attend meetings as a leader of the main opposition.
A senior advocate this week suggested the premier to issue invitation through public notice after repeated refusal by Prachanda to attend council meetings.
The summit is discussing the presentation of the delayed budget, appointments to vacant seats in constitutional bodies, integration and resettlement of Maoist fighters.
Finance Minister Surendra Pandey, Home Minister Bhim Rawal, Maoist Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya and UML leader KP Sharma Oli are also attending the meeting.

SCHOOLS CLOSED DOWN IN NARAYANI

Kathmandu, 2 Nov.: Schools in five districts of Narayani anchal closed down Tuesday during a one-day closure to protest growing incidents of abductions and murder of teachers in the central terai region.
A teacher was abducted and shot dead in Bara district in the latest incident last week.
School management is demanding improved and increased security.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT DELEGATION MEETS SUJATA KOIRALA

Kathmandu, 2 Nov. A European parliamentary committee delegation on development, after arrival Monday holds discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala Tuesday.
The delegation is on a five-day visit.

PETROLEUM TRANSPORT ENTREPRENEURS STOP TRANSPORT OF POL PRODUCTS

Kathmandu,2 Nov.: Petroleum transport entrepreneurs Tuesday didn’t load POL products at the Indo-Nepal and its transport inside the country for the fourth consecutive day Tuesday.
This has created shortage of products.
There was no agreement Tuesday in dialogue with Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) on 11-points pressed by entrepreneurs.

NOTED SINGER AMBAR GURUNG HOSPITALIZED

Kathmandu, 2 Nov.: Noted singer Ambar Gurung was admitted to Norvic Hospital for observation and treatment Monday.
He collapsed after blood sugar level fell.
He’s also chancellor of Nepal Song and Dance Academy.
