NEPAL NOT REPRESENTED AT NOBEL PEACE PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION
Kathmandu, 11 Dec.: Nepal was not represented at Friday’s function in Norway to award the Nobel Peace Prize 2010 to jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo.
The Nepali embassy in London said Dr. Surendra Raj Chailse, ambassador to Great Britain also concurrently accredited to Norway, hadn’t presented his credentials to the Norwegian king and as such he couldn’t attend the function.
But a published report in Nepal said China asked Nepal to boycott the Norway function.
Reports from Norway said 14 nations stayed away from the prize distribution.
