NC CONVENES MEETING OF RULING PARTIES

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: NC has convened a meeting of ruling coalition parties Saturday.
The meeting comes as UNMI prepares to quit Nepal 15 January and a winter session begins net week to elect a successor of Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal who continues in office more than six months after resigning.
Foreign governments have called for a new government to pursue urgent business.
A meeting of NC office bearers Friday opposed attempts to form a separate body to oversee Maoist weapons and 19,000 plus former combatants in 27 cantonments and camps.
Weapons of Maoists are kept in containers under watch of UNMIN officials who started withdrawing from the cantonments this week.
NC concluded a special committee headed by the prime minister is the only authorized constitutional body to monitor the arms and armies.

EU SUPPORT TO PREVENT MALNUTRITION

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: EU will provide Nepal, through UNICEF, a grant of 3.,2 million euros to prevent malnutrition among children.
An estimated 1.7 million children under five are stunted or suffer chronic malnutrition.

NT PROFIT UP

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: Nepal Telecom (NT) earned a net profit of
Rs. 10.77 billion in the fiscal year 2066/67.
NT earned a net profit of Rs 10.17 billion the previous year, the company said Friday.
