AGREEMENT on TWO COURTS AT CENTER

Kathmandu, 11 March: An agreement was reached to establish a supreme court and a constitutional court at the center in a new federal structure.
The agreement was reached Friday at a sub-committee coordinated by Maoist Chairman Prachanda with seven members mainly with representatives of the Big Three parties,
The sub-committee will report its recommendations to the main constitution drafting committee headed by Nilambar Acharya.
The sub-committee discussed a judicial structure to be incorporated in a basic law that has to be promulgated by 28 May as time is running short.
Discussions on a constitutions isn’t being taken up by the 598-member constituent assembly to speed up and shorten the drafting process.
The constitutional court will be headed by the chief justice of the supreme court and will have four more judges.
It will have the power of final judicial review now with the supreme court, Laxman Lal Karna, a sub-committee member said.

TWO DEAD, MORE THAN THREE DOZEN INJURED IN BUS ACCIDENT

Kathmandu, 11 March Two persons were killed and at least three dozen were injured, nine seriously in a bus accident on the Mahendra Highway on the Jaleshwor, Bardibas section of the national road network at Mohottari Friday.
The driver lost control of the speeding bus, police said.

INDIAN NAXAL LEADER KILLED IN WEST BENGAL

Kathmandu, 11 March: A top Naxalite or Indan Maoist leader Shadhar Mahoto was shot dead by police at Mindanapore in West Bengal, raddio reports said Friday.
New Delhi says its Maoist insurgency is the most biggest internal security threat for India.
The extreme communist insurgency has ht Bihar and West Bengal states bordering Nepal’s terai.
India helped bring Nepal’s Maoists to come into the political mainstream as both federal and state governments refuse to negotiate with their rebels.
