MINISTRIES ALLOCATED TO TWO UML MINISTERS

Kathmandu, 8March: Minister Without Portfolio Badri Paudel, who was expected to be appointed home minister, was awarded the defence ministry portfolio Monday in a delayed decision.
He succeeds Bidya Bhandari of UML in the previous government ; she was the country’s first woman defence minister and a strong defender of Nepal Army (NA).
Gopalman Tuladhar (UML) has been appointed education minister.
Nobody has been appointed the home ministry portfolio still demanded by Maoists whose legislator Deb Gurung said Monday in Gorkha an agreement has been reached to award the ministry to UCPN (Maoists).
The party chaired by Prime Minister Jhalanatah Khanal stooped the premier from giving the home portfolio to Maoists until the delayed peace process is completed.
Khanal said Monday the delayed government expansion will be completed ‘soon-in a few days’ without a ‘consensus’.
The ministers were immediately appointed after Khanal’s election with Maoist support 3 February.
In a ministry-sharing deal, UML has to appoint four more ministers; Maoists have nominated only four of 11 ministers as well.

He walked the stretch from New Road toChetrapati to see houses along the street after arriving Monday for a four-day visit.
He then flew for Jumla to inspect British-aided projects.
Before flying to the far-West hill district, he paid a courtesy call on ceremonial president Dr.Ram Baran Yadav and discussed bilateral relations, aid and other issues.
