Kathmandu, 18 March: Amid intense speculation who Maoist Chairman Prachanda met in Singapore, he returned home from the island city and declared he didn’t meet any Chinese leader there.
He flew there suddenly for a previously unannounced visit Wednesday ostensibly to address the Asia/Pachfic Cooperatio Foundation—a Chinese NGO.
In previous visits to Singapore, the Maoist strongman held discussions there with Indian Prof. S.D. Muni currently attached with Singapore University and is close with the Indian government.
He was New Delhi’s’ point-man immediately before and after transition from constitutional monarchy to a republic.
It wasn’t known if he met Muni at a time when relations between New Delhi and Maoists are strained.
Muni has close relations with Maoist Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai whom he has been promoting in his private meetings with Nepalis, according to people who have met the Maoist leader.
Prachanda said Friday he hopes delayed government will be completed in the next several days and atmosphere has improved for concluding the delayed peace process and constitution drafting.
