CHIRANJIBI WAGLE ARRESTED, SENT TO JAIL

Kathmandu, 17 March: Chiranjibi Wagle, former minister and NC leader close to the Sher Bahadur Deuba camp in the party, was arrested Thursday evening and sent to prison.
He’s been lodged at Dilli Bazzar khor.
The supreme court one day earlier on Wednesday upheld corruption charges filed against him by CIAA against and sentenced him to a 18-month jail term.
He was fined and assets seized.
Wagle said he didn’t get justice.
Supreme court previously overturned corruption charges filed by CIAA against top politicians and bureaucrats on technological grounds.
Former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala even defied the anti-corruption court and refused to appear at the apex court where corruption charges were leveled against him.
