VERDICT ON PARAS SHAH CASE WEDNESDAY

NEPALI RESCUE TEAM IN JAPAN TO BEGIN WORK

Kathmandu, 16 March: Nepal embassy in Tokyo has formed separate teams to work with a 15-Nepali rescue team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force from Wednesday.
Government decided to send a token rescue squad Monday to help in Japan’s worst disaster after World War II.
The teams will work with the rescue team which will be provided translator service.
More Nepali nationals missing in Sendai and Okinawa have come into contact with the embassy, officials said.
No Nepali casualties have been reported so far.
The embassy is also preparing to evacuate its nationals from sites around exploded nuclear plants as protection against radiation.
International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) with Japanese Red Cross and NepalRed cross Society has launched a special family links website (www.familylinks.icrc.org) to help people contact family and friends missing since the 11 March quake and tsunami.

CHITWAN DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION TO DECIDE PARAS SHAH CASE WEDNESDAY

Kathmandu, 16 March: Chitwan district administration is scheduled to give its verdict Wednesday on a charge filed against former Crown Prince Paras Shah for allegedly attempting to shoot Bangladesh national Ruben Chaudhary, who is son-in –law of Sujata Koirala.
The case was filed when Koirala was deputy prime minister and foreign minister as parties, including the NC of Koirala, attempted to give political colour to an altercation between Shah and Chaudhary at Tiget Tops Jungle Resort in December 2010.
Paras was celebrating his daughter’s birthday at the lodge with family when the dispute broke.
Shah was charged by Chaudhary for attempting to shoot him—a charge denied by the former crown prince.
Shah was briefly arrested following the charge and released on a Rs.10,000 surety.

KRISHNA PRASAD BHATTARAI REMEMBERED

Kathmandu, 16 March: NC is holding a commemorative public meeting at Open Air Theater Wednesday on the 13th day of the death of Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.
Three NC Valley district committees are holding the meet.
Party leader Sushil Koirala and other top party leaders will address the meet in the capital.
The party is holding nation-wide commemorative meetings Wednesday.
