Kathmandu, 14 March: Ananda Devi Singh died Monday Rajbirak,Saptari.
She was 85 and a nominated member of parliament.
Devi took over party leadership when her husband Gajendra Narayan Singh died.
The terai-based party is badly splintered.

FIRE CONTNUES UNABATED IN LANGTANG NATIONAL NATIONAL PARK
Kathmandu, 14 March: Fire continued unabated for the third consecutive day at at Langtang National Park.
Strong winds are hampering efforts to contain the fire.
Nepal Army is also helping contain the fire.

KRISHNA PRASAD BHATTARAI BEING REMEMBERED TUESDAY
Kathmandu, 14 March: NC will hold commemorative nation-wide public meetings Tuesday on the 13th day of the death of two-time prime minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.
The party which sidelined him after declaring a republic under Girija Prasad Koirala honoured Bhattarai, who was the only surviving founder member of the party, when he died.
The party draped his body with the party flag.
Bhattarai, 87, died on lung infection, chronic renal failure and conjunctive heart failure.
Kishunji, a principled politician, supported constitutional monarchy and multi-party democracy even after NC adopted a republican agenda.
and resigned from the oldest party when it adopted a republican agenda.

INDUSTRIES IN HETAUDA REMAIN CCLOSED
Kathmandu, 14 March: Forty-four industries in the Hetauda Industrial Estate, including multi-national companies, that were expected to resume production Sunday after a forced four-day closure by Maoist trade union didn’t operate as expected.
Hetauda Industry Association rejected an agreement between the trade union and Makwanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) for a Rs, 1`,6000 pay for workers to resume work.
Hetauda Industrial Estate Sunday rejected the previous day’s agreement between the trade union and MCCI.
The estate was closed down for the seventh day Monday.
Management has refused to re-open industries until workers resume work unconditionally.

ELECTION FOR FNCCI HEATING UP
Kathmandu, 14 March: Election to capture the leadership of the FNCCI in one month is heading up.
Suraj Vaidya and Ajad Shrestha are contesting the chairmanship.
Shrestha announced his panel Sunday.
Krishna Prasad Tamrakar is senior vice-president, Nirak KC, Pradeep Jung Pandey and Pradeep Man Vaidhya are contesting for vice-president.

EXPULSION IN JANAMORCHA NEPAL
Kathmandu, 14 March: Secretariat Secretary JB Dhaulakoti has been suspended for at least three months from Jaanamorcha Nepal.
Mahendra Chetri has been appointed to replace him while Shiba Shrestha and Hab Khadka have been nominated secretariat members.

SAFTA MEET ON 28 MARCH
Kathmandu, 14 March: Working committee of South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) meets in Kathmandu for four days beginning to discuss removing 20 percent trade items from a sensitive list and expansion of the service sector.
Very little progress has been recorded in declaring the South Asian region a free trade after the goal was declared in 2004 mainly because of rivalry and suspicions between Pakistan and India—the biggest members of the block.

NEPALI SQUAD FOR AFC CHALLEGE CUP
Kathmandu, 14 March: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has selected 23 players for the AFC Challenge Cup Group D matches being played in Kathmandu 7 to 11 April.
Nepal, North Korea, Sri Lanka and winner of playoff between Bhutan and Afghanistan.
Selected Nepali players are: Bikash Malla, Ritesh Thapa, Kiran Chemjong, Sagar Thapa, Sandeep Rai, Rohit Chand, Biraj Maharjan, Rabin Shrestha, Bikash Singh Chetri, Deepak Bhusal, Niranjan Khadka, Raju Tamang, Bhola Nath Silwal, Anil Ojha, Niranjan Malla, Shiva Shrestha, Jagjit Shrestha, Anil Gurung, Jumanu Rai, Santosh Sahukhala, Ganesh Lawati, Sunil Shrestha and Bharat Khawas.

FORMER KING, QUEEN RETURN HOME THURSDAY
Kathmandu, 14 March: Former King Gyanendra and Queen Komal are returning home Thursday, Jana Bhawana reports.
They had gone to Madhya Pradesh, India, 10 March to attend the wedding of the granddaughter of Nalini, daughter of King Tribhuvan.
