SUB-COMMITTEE TENURE EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 15 DAYS
Kathmandu 15 March: The tenure of a seven member powerful sub-committee chaired by Chairman Prachanda to discuss contentious issues to be included in a constitution to institutionalize ,a declared republic was extended by another 15 days until 29 March Tuesday.

extended the tenure which ended Monday, Maoist leader Deb Gurung said.
He said differences have yet to be resolved on 37 of 75 issues.
The sub-committee reported Tuesday to the main committee its progress report of discussions held over 15 days.
Only 75 days remain to promulgate a basic law.
Maoist Chief Prachanda last month asked for extension of the constituent assembly (CA) for another two months from 28 May to complete a delayed drafting of a constitution.
Maoist Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara also said categorically a basic law won’t be completed by the second deadline end of May.
He suggested promulgating a constitution incorporating agreements reached at the CA; another parliament, he suggested, should complete th skeletal constitution.

Kathmandu, 15 March: One person died and 20 others of a wedding party were injured when a tractor transporting a wedding party overturned at Chauatala in Kailali Monday/
Seven persons died and 70 persons were injured in seven vehicular accidents in seven districts Monday, police said.
Two persons died one dozen persons died in a bus accident at Abukharini in Tanahu.

MAOISTS PUSH MECHANISM TO RUN GOVERNMENT
Kathmandu, 15 March: A meeting of Maoist office bearers Monday decided to form a mechanism to run the government of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and appoint remaining ministers in the delayed expansion of the government of Khanal’s UML party and UCPN (Maoist).
Khanal was elected prime minister 3 February with Maoist support; only an eight-member government has been constituted,
Maoists hope to influence government functioning though the mechanism.
Maoists didn’t say who will chair the mechanism but Maoists will seek leadership of the body.
UCPN (Maoist) will also ask government to present a supplementary budget for the remaining four months of the current fiscal year 1010/11 as the present budget was presented by the previous government through ordinance.
Maoist Vic-chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha said the two parties had agreed in principle to form the mechanism and present a supplementary budget.

MAOISTS TO LAUNCH TO VOLUNTEER FORCE
Kathmandu, 15 March: Maoists Monday decided to immediately launch a volunteer force ad mobilize them for development work, Maoist Vic-chairman Narayan Kazi Shestha said.
The party office bearers’ meet Monday decided to launch the new force.
Top party leader CP Gajurel earlier said the force was being launched at the YCL was no longer feared.

NEPAL SENDING TOKEN RESCUE TEAM TO JAPAN
Kathmandu, 15 March: Nepal is sending a token team of 15 security force with 5,000 blankets to rescue people in Japan what has suffered its worst natural disaster after World War II.
The cabinet Monday decided to send a team of 10 army personnel, three policemen of Nepal Police and two persons from Armed Police Force.
Parliament Monday passed a special resolution on the loss of live and property in the earthquake and tsunami.
The Nepali embassy in Tokyo said l15 Nepalis came into contact Monday; no Nepali casualties have been reported.
