PARLIAMENT SESSION DELAYED

Kathmandu, 28 May: A crucial meeting of parliament has been delayed Business that was to start at eight in the morning didn’t takeoff one hour later until nine.
Parties are busy discussing their positions for the meet
Maoists are meeting at the residence of Chairman Prachanda while another ruling party UML’s parliamentary party meet started at the Singha Durbar complex.
Main opposition NC has convened a joint meeting of its central committee and parliamentary party.
Parties have issued whips to their lawmakers to be present at the Saturday’s meet

SITUATION CENTER OPERATIONAL

Kathmandu, 28 May: A situation center to monitor 19,000 plus former Maoist combatants at seven cantonments and 21 satellite camps began work at the secretariat of the special committee on integration, resettlement and supervision headed by the prime minister.
Four representatives each from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Maoist PLA man the center.

NMB BANK AND CLEAN EGERGY DEVELOPMENT BANK TO MERGE

Kathmandu, 28 May: Following merger encouragement by Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB), NMB Bank and Clean Energy Development Bank Friday notified the central bank of their merger plan.
The two financial institutions signed a memorandum of understanding one month ago.
Joint venture Everest Bank and Kumari Bank have also signed an expression of interest for merger.

OFFICIAL APPOINTED NSC MEMBER-SECRETARY

Kathmandu, 28 May: Rana Bahadur Shrestha, joint secretary at ministry of youth and sports, has been appointed member-secretary of National Sports Council (NSC).
The position was vacant following the resignation of Haribabu Chaudhary following government change.
