UML DISSIDENTS, NC MEET

Kathmandu, 11 May: A dissident group led by former Prime Madhav
Kumar Nepal and standing committee member KP Sharma Oli held talks with main opposition NC leaders for a ‘package solution; to end a current political deadlock Wednesday.
Besides, Nepal and Oli, Defence Minister Bishnu Paudel, Shanker Pokhrel and Pradip Geywali were in the UML team.

Paudel joined the talks although he’s in the government of Khanal and was the party choice for home minister; the home ministry has been awarded to Maoists by Khanal defying party directive.
Paudel and Pokhrel are also party secretaries from the Nepal camp.
The parties held ‘open talks’ with NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Shitaula, Dr..Ram Sharan Mahat, Bimelendra Nidhi and Dr,Minendra Rijal.
They agreed on a common agenda, Geywali said.
“First task is to complete the peace process to complete constitution drafting,: Dr. Mahat said cautiously.
Discussions are being held with other political parties, Geywali said.
“No discussions were discussed on government change. Completion of the peace process was discussed,” Dr. Mahat said.
But UMLl dissidents and NC have been calling for a government of national consensus and understanding. With Nepal and Oli openly calling for the resignation of Khanal, hence the importance of NC dissident UML leaders meet.
Dissident UML leaders have been calling for a national government with NC.
Maoist Vice-chairman Dr.Baburam Bhattarai has also been urging a national government with NC.
But another Maoist Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya said there’s no alternative to the current government mainly of Maoists and UML.

RPP-NEPAL ANNOUNCES ANTI-GOVT.PROTESTS

Kathmandu, 11 May: RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa Wednesday announced nation-wide anti-government protests from 19 May demanding fresh constituent assembly (CA) elections after 28 May.
Thapa made the formal announcement after a central committee meeting.
The party supports constitutional monarchy and a Hindu state demanding a referendum on the issues .

CHETRI SAMAJ PROTEST
TURNS VIOLENT UPDATE

Kathmandu, 11 May: A strike by Chetrr Samaj turned violent as two industries were attacked at the Pokhara Industrial Estate causing millions of rupees in damage.
The strike completely closed down Gandki, Lumbini and Dhaulagiri anchals in the West.
The Samaj opposes ethnic provinces.
