ACHARYA BALKRISHNA SAYS HE’S INDIAN

Kathmandu, 8 June: Acharya Balkrishna, a to aide of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdevm who went into hiding when Indian police broke his fast against corruption forcibly in New Delhi and banished him form the Indian capital said Tuesday he’s an Indian of Nepali origin.
Acharya appeared in Hardwar Tuesday
“I am Indian of Nepali origin,” he told reporters.
‘I was not trying to flee.but was in hiding to avoid the brutality of the police,” he told reporters..
Ruling Indian National Congress General Secretary Dijvijaya Singh charged Acharya was a Nepali criminal holds and Indian passport.
Singh called for an investigation.

NEPAL,INDIA ELECTION CHIEFS SIGN COOPERATION AGREEMENT

Kathmandu, 8 June: Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with visiting Indian Chief Election Commissioner Dr.SY Quraishi to share expertise and organizational experiences.
India will support organizational and technical development and upgrade electoral management.

GORKHALAND ISSUE SETTLED SAYS MAMATA BANARJEE

Kathmandu, 8 June: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banarjee on Tuesday said that the 15-year-old Darjeeling issue was ‘settled’ but the GIM was mum on whether there was any decision on its original demand for a Gorkhaland state, PTI reports from Kolkata.
“Today is a historic day. The Darjeeling issue which has been lingering for a long period is settled at the official level talks. I have informed Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram,” Banarjee told reporters at the Writers’ Building.
Asked about the ‘magic formula’ that clinched the agreement, Banarjee , who had earlier stated that she would solve the Darjeeling problem within three months said,” It is our heart and good intention. The magic formula for reaching the agreement is development.”
Chief Secretary Samat Ghosh would announce details of the deal, she said.

SHYAM BAHADUR SHRESTHA REMNDED TO 10 DAY CUSTODY

Kathmandu, 8 June: Shyam Bahadur Shrestha, former executive chairman of Samjhana Finance, was remanded to 10 day judicial custody this week by Kavre district court to investigate charges he misappropriated Rs. 20 million of the troubled financial institution,
Senior Manager Saroj Bajracharya has also been arrested.

DCGC CAPITAL BASE RAISED

Kathmandu, 8 June: The capital base of Deposit and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DCGC) was raised to Rs 480 million, according to Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) Spokesman Bhaskar ManiGeywali. Who is also DCGC chief.
Government contributed Rs 400 million to raise its base to Rs 2 billion.
