NC OPPOSESGOVT. ATTEMPT TO TFANSFER FUNDS

NC REGISTERS COMPLAINT AT CIAA AAGAINST BUDGET TRANSFERS

Kathmandu, 8 June: Main opposition NC Wednesday lodged a complaint at CIAA Wednesday accusing government of ‘illegally’ attempting to transfer amounts from the budget to some projects and NGOs at the end of the fiscal year.
The party said the move amounts to official corruption violating established financial processes as the financial year 2010/11 ends 15 July.
Government hasn’t utilized all funds set aside for development expenditure.
NC also drew the attention of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari is lobbying support for government efforts to present the budget of the next fiscal year 1011./12.
He has been lobbying support in meetings with political parties and parliamentary committees.
NC President Sushil Koirala told Adhikari to seek understanding with parties for timely budget
Government has prepared a budget of Rs. 381 billion for the next financial year.
The economy has been negatively impacted with delayed presentation of budget because of political differences for the last two years.

TRIPPER ACCIDENT CLAIMS TWO LIVES

Kathmandu, 8 June; Two persons died when a tripper fell 400 meters off a road into a ravine at Nagdhunga in the capital outskirts Wednesday.
The tripper was transporting sand from neighbouring Dhading.
