REMAINING PLA FIGHTERS PROTECTINT MAOIST LEADERS DISARMED TO RETURN TO CAMP

REMAINING DISARMED PLA FIGHTERS RETURNING TO CAMP TUESDAY

Kathmandu, 7 June: Remaining members of party personnel attached with top Maoist leaders for their security are returning to the 3rd Division at Shaktikhor, Chitwan, later Tuesday.
They assembled at the residence of Chairman Prachanda Tuesday morning to proceed to Chitwan by bus.
A hard-line faction led by Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya opposed a decision of party office bearers to relieve armed PLA combatants of their security responsibilities to protect top party leaders and send them back to camps.
Prachanda Sunday returned a contingent of nearly 50 combatants deployed for his security; strengthened police security provided government continues.
The operation to disarm and sent the former fighters which started Sunday was delayed because of internal party differences.
The disarming and relocation operation of former Maoists should be completed Tuesday.
