12 EAST DISTRICTS CLOSED DOWN

Kathmandu, 13 July: Twelve districts east of Arun river in the East were closed down Wednesday by a strike called by Khumbuwan Mukti Morcha pushing demands for autonomy.
A bomb was found at the Ithari Taffick Chowk in the morning.
Bombs planted at government offices in Dharan and Itahari were also defused Tuesday.

MAOIST CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING WEDNESDAY

Kathmandu, 13 July: A suspended central committee meeting of factionalized UCPN (Maoist), Nepal’s largest party which is also communist, is scheduled to meet later Wednesday after 19 days.
The party’s leadership is being challenged by factions led by two senior Vice-Chairmen Dr.Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Baidya demanding the Maoist strongman share party responsibilities, Prachanda led the party with an iron fist during the insurgency and after it joined mainstream politics more than four years ago.
Baidya and Bhattarai are now jointly lobbying against Prachanda and Tuesday held a joint meeting with central members supporting them,
The exercise was called ‘homework for the meeting” by General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa, who joined the talks; he’s a Prachanda supporter.
The three top leaders also held discussions with the third Vice-Chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha as well.
A section in the party is pushing the candidacy for the leadership of government by Bhattarai as demands increase for replace of UML’s leadership of government.
Maoists are the dominant power behind the majority government of Jhalanath Khanal who is also Chairman of UML.
Prachanda held separate meetings with top leaders, including Baidya, Dr. Bhattarai, Shrestha Thapa Amik Serchan and other leaders Tuesday as the Maoist boss attempts to stem the internal challenge which has delayed the peace process and constitution drafting.

MORE DETAILS OF SUSHIL KOIRALA MEETINGS IN NEW DELHI

Kathmandu, 13 July: NC President Sushil Koirala held discussions in New Delhi with Foreign Minister SM Krishna as well Tuesday.
He discussed the peace process and constitution drafting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.as reported earlier.
Koirala also held discussions with opposition leader Sharad Pawar and Dr. Karan Singh of the Indian National Congress.
Singh keeps abreast with Nepal developments.
Koirala is transiting the Indian capital en route home from USA where he had an annual medical check-up
He underwent surgery for throat cancer at a New York hospital two years ago.

SUNRISE BANK PAID-UP CAPUTAL REACHES RS,2 BILLION

Kathmandu, 13 July: The paid-up capital of Sunrise Bank is now Rs.2.10 billion, the bank said.
The bank issued 10:2.4 right shares and it allotted remaining 316,969 ordinary shares were allotted,
