Kathmandu, 10 June: Prices of diesel and kerosene were hiked by Rs. 73.6 per liter Sunday by Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) which said the tainted state-owned monopoly importer and distributor of POL products would still incur missions of rupees in losses.
Petrol price wasn’t hiked.
Diesel and kerosene will now cost Rs 73,50 per liter.
Price was hiked also to prevent cross-border smuggling of POL products to India where prices are higher, NOC said.

GOVT, CONTRIBUTES TO FUND FOR WELFARE OF JOURALISTS
Kathmandu, 10 July: The Government is to allocate Rs. 50 million for the life insurance of the working journalists in Nepal in the coming Fiscal Year, RSS reports.
Speaking at a program organized in the capital on Sunday, Minister for Information and Communications, Agni Sapkota said the Ministry of Communications would also been contributing an additional Rs. 15 million to the insurance fund.
However, the media sector too should be contributing five to 10 per cent in the fund so as to ensure the investment, Minister Sapkota said.
The working journalists involved in the media sector for continuous ten years can avail of the full life insurance. There are an estimated 10,000 working journalists in the country.
However, the number of working journalists who qualify for the full life insurance is around 3,200, according to Govinda Acharya, Chairperson of the Minimum Wage Determination Committee.
