MADESH FRONT TO OBSTRUCT BUDGET PRESENTATION IN PARLIAMENT THURSDAY
Kathmandu, 13 June: A meeting of Joint Madesh Loktantrick frontof four terai parties decided Wednesday to ‘strongly
protest and obstruct’ presentation of the annual budget for 2011/12 in parliament by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari Thursday.
The front will meet again Thursday to decide the forms of protest
A meeting Wednesday charged the communist majority government for ignoring six Madesh demands for incorporation in the budget.
Its delayed presentation for three successive years has adversely affected the national economy.

NEW CITY POLICE CHIEF RANA FREE TO TAKE ON NEW RESPONSIBILITY
Kathmandu, 13 June: A two-judge bench of the supreme court Wednesday lifted an order stopping AIGP Kuber Bahadur Rana from carrying out new responsibilities after promotion.
The bench Wednesday rules there was no need to extend the previous order.
Following his promotion, Rana took charge as chief of the capital’s police force; he can now resume work following the promotion..
Rana was charged of rights abuses in Dhanusha during the 10-year year Maoist insurgency.
Rana is in line to be the next IGP.

AIG DIPENDRA BISTA FAILS TO PAY BAIL, SENT TO JAIL
Kathmandu, 13 July: AIG Dipendra Bahadur Bista was sent to jail Wednesday after he failed to pay a Rs 10 million bail posted by a special court
Bista is the second office of Nepal Police convicted by the courton a CIAA charge for involvement in a Rs 280 million Darfur, Sudan, purchase of faulty ANC’s for peacekeepers with the African state under the UN.
South Sudan has gained independence.
DSP Dinesh KC was earlier jailed and released after he paid a paid on the same charge.
CIAA has charged 34 police officers, including three IGPS.

NEPAL BHUSAN CHAND PROMOTED IN NA
Kathmandu, 13 July: Major General Nepal Bhushan Chand was promoted by the cabinet to Lieutenant General of Nepal Army (NA) Wednesday.
Chand is the third ranking officer in Nepal Army
Lt. Gen. Gaurab Shumshere JB Rana is in line to succeed Army Chief Gen Chatraman Singh Gurung.

SPEAKER NEMWANG RETURNS FROM NEW DELHI BEFORE PRESENTATION OF ANNUAL BUDGET THURSDAY
Kathmandu, 13 July: Speaker Subash Nemwang returned home Wednesday from New Delhi where he attended a conference of speakers of parliament of the SAARC region.
The conference decided to hold the next speaker’s meet in Pakistan.
