PRACHANDA PRESENTS POLITICAL REPORT TO CENTRAL COMMITTEE UPDATE

Kathmandu, 17 July: Maoist central committee met briefly Sunday after more than three weeks on postponements.
Party chief and Chairman Prachanda presented his political report to the committee,.
The meeting was adjourned until Monday after Prachanda presented proposals on resolution of intra-party differences, completing the peace process and constitution drafting.

UDAY RAJ PANDEY APPOINTED AMBASSADOR TO SAUDI ARABIA
Kathmandu, 17 July: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Sunday appointed Uday Raj Pandey Ambassador to Saudi Arabia on the recommendation of the government.

SSP SHYAM BAHADUR THAPA SENT TO JAIL
Kathmandu, 17 July: Nepall Police SSP Shyam Bahaddur Thapa was sent to jail Sunday after he didn’t settle a Rs 7 million bail set by a three-judge bench of the special court.
Thapa is among 34 police officers charged by CIAA in a Rs 280million scam for purchase of armored personnel for peacekeepers with the UN mission in Darfur, Sudan.
Former IGP was also sent to jail on the same charge and was set a bail of Rs 70 million for his release.
Thapa is the fourth officer sentenced so far.

KISHORE RANA APPOINTED ACTING APF IGP


Kathmandu, 17 July: AIG Kishor Lama was appointed acting IGP of Armed Police Force (APF) by government Sunday.
The cabinet appointed Lama.
IGP Sanat Kumar Basnet retired Friday.

Lama will be superannuated 30 July.

NEPSE GAINS 19.18 POINTS
Kathmandu, 17 July: Nepse gained 19.18 points on the first day of weekly five-day trading Sunday closing at 378.41 points.
Surge in share prices continued after.the national budget was presented on time in parliament last week,
Shares tocks of commercial banks, development banks and financial institutions gained.
