MAOIST VICE-CHAIRMEN BAIDYA AND BHATTARAI LOBBY AGAINST CHAIRMAN PRACHANDA
Kathmandu, 12 July: Maoist Vice-chairmen Mohan Baidya and Dr. Bahuram Bhattarai held a joint meeting Tuesday with their supporters ahead of Wednesday’s central committee meeting.
The two senior vice-chairmen later met jointly with the third Vice-chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha.
A standing committee that was scheduled to meet Tuesday ahead of the central committee hasn’t met until two in the afternoon.
Baidya and Bhattarai are preparing a common position for Wednesday’s central committee meet as they mount pressure on Chairman Prachanda to share responsibilities in the party.
Prachanda is accused of centralizing power.
Deep differences—ideological and personal--have publicly surfaced in once rigid party the ruling party which is also the country’s largest.
Maoist leaders are openly talking of a possibility in the party.
The peace process and constitution have been delayed with intra-party differences.
The standing and central committees have to discuss future party strategy and settle internal dispute as sell.

BOMBS DEFUSED AT THREE PLACES
Kathmandu, 12 July: Bombs placed at three places in Sunsari and Udaipur were defused by bomb disposal units of Nepal Army Tuesday.
Powerful bombs were defused at government offices in Dharan and Inruwa in Inaruwa; the bombs were planted by Khumbuwan activists and armed rebel group in the terai spreading terror.
A pressure cooker bomb planted at Tapeshwari in bomb Udaipur was also defused.
