20 % SALARY HIKE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

Kathmandu, 12 July: Civil servants will get a 20 % salary/allowance hike in the new budget, Sujit Mahat/Gokarna Abasti write in Kantipur.
Government employees demanded a 30% hike.
Government has to earmark Rs.16 billion for the increased salary.
Salary hasn’t been increased for three years.

SUSHIL KOIRALA IN NEW DELHI, BUSY IN POLITICAL DIALOGUE

Kathmandu, 12 July: NC President Sushil Koirala arrived in New Delhi en route home Sunday night after visiting USA and several European capital and immediately started a political dialogue, Kantipur reports from the Indian capital.
According to sources, he held discussions with influential Congress leader and Finance Minister Pranab Mukurjee and senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani separately Monday.
He has a programme to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday; a meeting hasn’t been fixed with Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the ruling UPA..
It’s not certain when he’ll return are some meetings are still being scheduled.
It’s learnt Koirala discussed the peace process, constitution drafting the political deadlock with Mukurjee and Advani.
Indian leaders suggested all parties should work together.
