FURTHER DETAILS ON DIFFERFENCES

Kathmandu, 23 Aug.: Maoists proposed a 6-month extension opposed by UML of Caretaker Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal; UML favoured only a three-month extension.
The cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to register a proposal to extend Constituent Assembly (CA) term by three months.
Maoists walked out of the meeting
A ministerial team led by Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari registered the government motion in parliament.
Small parties at an all-party meeting suggested a nine-month extension, UML three months and Maoists six months.

RASHRIYA RAJNAITIK MAHNCH DRAWS PRESIDENT’S ATTENTION

Kathmandu, 23 Aug.: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Tuesday expressed his ‘deep concern’ with the present situation prevailing in the country. Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohini of RJP which is front constituent said.
The president, according to Dr, Lohini, said he was a custodian of the constitution.

RISING RAPTI RIVER WATER LEVEL THREATENING VILLAGES

Kathmandu, 23 Aug.: Rising water level in Rapti river in Banke following constant rain is threatening six villages in the far-West, Radio Nepal said.
The river level is still five meters 40 centimeters below the danger level.

NC ASKS LAWMAKERS TO BE IN VALLEY

Kathmandu, 23 Aug.: NC parliamentary party, in a statement Tuesday, asked its lawmakers to remain in the Valley.
The directive was issued as parliament meets Thursday after the second three-day presidential extension to assemble a consensus ends at five in the afternoon Wednesday.
If a consensus government isn’t formed President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav will ask the legislature to elect a majority government.
Parliament has started preparation for the legislative vote.
