MAOISTS TO BEGIN REGROUPING OF FIGHTERS TO MEET PROMISES



MAOIST TEAMS GOING TO CANTONMENTS TO REGROUP 19,000 FORMER FIGHTERS FOR RESETTLEMENT, INTEGRATION
Kathmandu, 30 Aug.: A Maoist standing committee meet decided Tuesday to immediately start the process for integration and resettlement of its fighters
The party decided to dispatch teams to cantonments Tuesday.to regroup 19,000 former fighters awaiting either integration or resettlement.
The standing committee meet was chaired by party boss Prachanda and held immediately after installation of Dr.Baburam Bhattarai as prime minister.
The fighters are at 28 cantonments and satellite camps spread throughout the country.
A special committee for integration, rehabilitation and supervision which will now be headed by Premier Bhattarai is scheduled to meet Wednesday.
Spokesman Dinanath Sharma said there-grouping teams will reach cantonments by Wednesday to begin work.
A Maoist proposal commits integration in 45 days.after government formation under its leadership.
