PM KHANAL ASKS MAOISTS TO BE MORE SERIOUS THAN OTHERS

PM KHANAL ASKS MAOISTS SHOULD BE SERIOUS MORE THAN OTHER PARTIES

Kathmandu, 1 Aug.: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal Monday said he’ll resign by 13 August without significant progress in concluding a delayed peace process.
He was addressing a news conference at his residence after installing nine new Maoist members and one MJFN minister in a cabinet reshuffle opposed by a section of his own UML party and main opposition NC.
Khanal delivered a prepared statement.
He welcomed a Maoist commitment Sunday to complete the peace process and promulgate a constitution.
NC again threatened to obstruct house proceedings to press its demand for formation of a national government.
But Khanal asked NC not to daily obstruct the legislative proceedings.
A constitution to institutionalize a declared republic has to promulgated in an extended three-month deadline.; time is limited to address major differences on political issues including communist and multi-democracy, a federal state structure and other issues.
He asked UCPN (Maoist) to seriously conclude the delayed peace process. and parties, including NC, to support his initiatives.
The premier said a government reshuffle won’t obstruct implementation of a five-point.
Maoists must show more responsibility and be serious, he said.
He asked all parties should think ‘coolly”
The premier revealed no decision was taken by his party standing committee when he left abruptly.
