POWER STRUGGLE SURFACES AGAIN IN NC

Kathmandu, 22 Aug.: Sher Bahadur Deuba convened a meeting of supporters in NC to claim he’s also candidate for prime minister if a decision is taken to select Caretaker Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal’s through vote in parliament.
Deuba convened a meting at his residence Monday
Deuba says he’s both a candidate through consensus or through majority vote in parliament.
The party central committee selected him only as a consensus candidate as Parliamentary Party leader and Vice-chairman Ram Chandra Paudel claim’s he’s a candidate for prime minister by voting in the legislature.
President Sushil Koirala didn’t side either with Deuba or Paudel
in a tussle between then when the central committee last week decided only decided on a consensus candidate.
Deuba threatened to topple Paudel in a no-confidence vote in the parliamentary party where he claims he has a majority.
Maoist Second Vice-chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai is candidate for prime minister through consensus between parties or by voting.

MAOIST CENTRAL LEADERS BEING RECALLED FROM PLA

Kathmandu, 22 Aug.: UCPN (Maoist) central leaders are being recalled from former PLA to facilitate the integration process, Gorkhapatra reports.
They will be involved in top politics after recall.
Party is discussing recall of politburo and central leaders.
