PRACHANDA SAYS BHATTARAI WILL HEAD MAJORITY GOVT.

UML CENTRAL COMMITTEE DECIDES TO MAKE MAXIMUM EFFORT FOR CONSENSUS GOVT.

Kathmandu, 22 Aug.: UML central committee Monday decided to continue maximum effort for a consensus government in the remaining two days and to conduct talks with other parties.
After parties failed to assemble a consensus prime minister Sunday, President Dr.Ram Baran Yadav extended the deadline to at the request of political represented in parliament Sunday for three more days until Wednesday five in the afternoon.
The ruling party of which Caretaker Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal is chairman decided to continue talks with other parties for a consensus agreement.
UML central committee also concluded there can be no consensus under Maoists until the peace process is concluded and constitution is drafted.
Meetings of standing committee, politburo land central committee can be called to decide on political developments if needed, the party concluded
“Formation of a consensus government isn’t easy
Chances are slim,” Maoist Chief Prachanda said.
“Majority government will be formed under Dr. Baburam Bhattarai,” Chairman Prachanda told reporters at his residence Monday.
But main opposition NC office bearers decided Monday to continue effort for consensus government for which there’s no alternative, the party said.
NC didn’t decide who will be candidate for prime minister for majority government.
A front of five Madeshbadi parties concluded Monday chances for formation of consensus government were slim while deciding it will make effort until he last for a consensus government..

PROCEDURE FOR CONFIRMATION OF APPOINTMENTS TO CONSTITUTIONAL BODIES BY SPECIAL PARMILAMENTARY COMMITTEE AMENDEDOF

Kathmandu, 22 Aug,: A procedure of a parliamentary hearing committee to confirm appointments to by government to constitutional bodies was changed Monday.
A suggestion of Pusha Bhusal was approved.
The move paves the way for hearings to confirmation appointments of ambassadors to Bangladesh and Japan.
Career diplomats have been nominated by government.
The hearings couldn’t be held because of a rule appointments can’t confirmed when incumbents are still in office.

MADESHBADI PARTIES PROTEST SUPREME COURT MAJORITY VERDICT DAURA, SURUWAL NATIONAL DRESS

Kathmandu, 22 Aug. A front of five Madesh parties decided Monday to handover a memorandum to the supreme court opposing a majority decision of a bench of the apex court saying a combination of daura, suruwal and topi is the national dress.

GOLD PRICE RECORDS ANOTHER HIGH

Kathmandu, 22 Aug. Gold laws traded again for another high of Rs. 53,400 per tola Monday.
The price increased by Rs.1,000 in one day.
Gold price has been rising in the local market with its increased price in the international market.
