THREE-PARTY MEET INCONCLUSIVE

PM KHANAL SPONSORS BIG THREE MEET

Kathmandu, 4 Aug.: A summit of Maoists, UML and main opposition NC was held Thursday in Baluwatar.
NC President Sushil Koirala didn’t attending the meeting; party vice-president and leader of parliamentary party Ram Chandra Paudel attended..
Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Chairman Prachanda represented their parties.
The leaders are discussing formation of a national government to conclude the delayed peace process and promulgation of a constitution.
The meetingwas inconclusive.

REMAINING ARMED MAOIST FORMER COMBATANTS OF SECURITY DUTY OF LEADERS RETURNING TO CANTONMENTS IN ONE WEEK.
Kathmandu, 4 Aug. a special committee on integration and resettlement of 19,000 plus combatants Thursday decided to return remaining former fighters of lselcurityduty of leaders withweapons to cantonments in one week.
Detachment attached to Chairman have returned with weapons.
But First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya and several other leaders refused to send back contingents attached with them.

Prachanda critics said the decision was Prachanda’s personal.
Chief Secretary Madhav Ghimire announced the decision of the committee meet chaired by Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanaal.
said that the committee would bring the rehabilitation and integration plan for PLA fighters within a week.

NEPAL BRAZIL SIGN THREE-POINT COOPERATION AGREEMENT

Kathmandu, 4 Aug.: Nepal and Brazil signed a 3-point mutual cooperation agreement in the North American state Thursday.
Visiting Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav signed the accord with his Brazilian counterpart coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

SUSHIL KOIRALA, US AMBASSADOR HOLD DISCUSSIONS

Kathmandu, 4 Aug,: Main opposition NC President Sushil Koirala held discussions with US Ambassador Scott H. Lelisi Thursday.
Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat was present.
The meeting comes as almost no progress has been made in completing the peace process and drafting a constitution,
It’s almost certain the two tasks won’t be met by the deadline in less than one month.

NEPAL LEADS OTHER SOUTH ASIAN STATES IN ATTRACTING TOURISTS

Kathmandu, 4 Aug. Nepal led other South Asian states in attracting tourists to the region on year-to-year basis in May, a report released by Pacific, Asia Travel Association (PATA) said Wednesday.
Internal tourist arrivals to the region increased four percent.
Nepal arrivals jumped to 47 percent, Sri Lanka 39 percent, Maldives 11 percent and India seven percent.
