PM KHANAL TELLS CABINET COLLEAGUES HE’LL QUIT IF PEACE PROCESS ISN’T COMPLETED BY 13 AUG.
Kathmandu, 4 Aug.: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal Thursday told cabinet colleagues he’ll quit if the peace process isn’t completed by 13 August, Radio Nepal said.
A delayed cabinet meet was held Thursday.
He asked colleagues to help complete the peace process by the deadline; Maoists and MJFN are in government with Khanal’s UML.

AGREEMENT TO PROTECT ENDANGERED RED PANDA
Kathmandu, 4 Aug.: The Social Welfare Council (AWC) and the Red Panda Network, USA have signed an agreement for implementing the Community Based Red Panda Conservation in Eastern Nepal, RSS reports.
The conservation project will be implemented in 18 Village Development Committees (VDCs) of Taplejung district. As per the agreement, Red Panda Network, U.S.A. will provide a grant assistance of Rs. 49.35 million through the local partner organization, the Himali Conservation Forum, for carrying out research on and monitoring of the red panda, community-level monitoring of the red panda’s habitat and sustainable forest management. The project is of five years duration.
Similarly, SWC signed an agreement with the Netherlands Leprosy Relief (NLR) for implementing the Support to Government of Nepal’s Leprosy Control Program including Rehabilitation in 26 different districts.
As per the agreement, NLR will provide a grant assistance of Rs. 195.93 million through the Ministry of Health and Population for implementing the project. The agreement period is for five years.
Both the agreements were signed on Wednesday at the SWC Secretariat.
