DEATH TOLL IN NEPAL QUAKE RISES TO SEVEM

Kathmandu, 19 Sept. The death toll in Sunday night’s quake rose to seven Monday morning, home ministry said.
Five died according to Sunday night reports—three in the capital and two in Dharan in the east.
Altogether 103 houses have been destroyed nation-wide, the ministry said.
Reports of damage comtine to pour in from districts.
President Dr. Ran Baran Yadav was huddled in a meeting with visiting Indian Janata party leader Bijaya Joli when the quake hit Nepal nation-wide at 6.25.in the evening—the strongest quak in 78 years.
He rushed out of the Shital Niwas barefoot with his guest to the sprawling gardens of the president’s official residence Naya Patrika reports.
The palace developed cracks, the newspaper reported
Nepali security guards with the British embassy didn’t cooperate in digging out four people injured in a compound wall collapse of the embassy, Nagarik reports quoting eyewitnesses.
The embassy guards didn’t allow rescuers to enter the embassy until army and police teams arrived.
Three of the four injured including a father and eight year-old daughter while undergoing treatment at hospital.
They were still breathing when the debris covered them.
The high compound along a narrow lane is a threat to pedestrians of the alley separating the British and Indian embassies.
